Michael W. Buehrle Sr.,  September 21, 2005

In 1998, the Easthampton School Committee selected members of the community to research the condition and status of all Easthampton Public Schools.  A ‘Futures Committee” was formed and I was an original member of that committee.

Based on the Futures Committee study, we formed the current School Building Committee of which I am the Chairperson.  This fourteen-member committee has worked diligently over the years, through research and trial and error, to find the best path for the City of Easthampton to address and solve the problem of our old and outdated school facilities.

Our hard work (and that of countless others) has guided us to this place in the future of our children and the kind of education we should be offering them.

Money has always been a factor in Easthampton and, as a retired person, I understand that to be no small matter.  However, as all the citizens of Easthampton are “keepers of the keys” to our children’s futures, we need to step up and ensure that they have the best facilities we can provide.  I encourage you to pass the debt-exclusion override on November 8th, so that we may take that first step,  the design phase for a new elementary school and renovations to our high school.

Thank you,

Michael W. Buehrle Sr.

There is never a “good time” to spend money, but there is a “right time.”

And the right time is now for Easthampton Schools.
