OUR SCHOOL BUILDINGS:CONTINUING THE REBIRTH OF EASTHAMPTON
Community Bulletin #2

The “Easthampton Renaissance” is gaining momentum!

In the last few years, Easthampton has enjoyed a rebirth, with new businesses, new amenities, and a “can do” attitude taking hold.  For example:

  • The impressive new Public Safety Complex shows how much our community values its professional and dedicated police and fire departments.
  • Our new city office building at 50 Payson Ave. houses the mayor and city agencies, providing a professional work environment that is appropriate for their important jobs.
  • Our great new Manhan Rail Trail bike path is a resource that the entire community enjoys.
  •  Places like Cottage Street, Eastworks and Union Street are buzzing with new businesses, restaurants, artist studios and entertainment venues.
  • New fields at Nonotuck Park make Easthampton’s recreational facilities the envy of the Pioneer Valley.
  • The new Senior Center gives Easthampton’s Seniors a much needed place to gather, socialize and receive important services.
  • Plans are underway to restore Nashawannuck Pond and make it a new recreational center...the crown jewel of downtown Easthampton.
  • Amid all this exciting new development, we can’t afford to leave our schools – and our children –  behind!
  • Our schools must provide Easthampton’s children with an education that prepares them for 21st century challenges.
  • This can’t happen in our 100 year old elementary schools, which are beyond renovation and in desperate need of replacement.  Our 40 year old high school is in need of equally important upgrades that were never considered in the 1960s.

There is never a “good time” to spend money, but there is a “right time.”

And the right time is now for Easthampton Schools.
