The Right Value.   The Right Time.   The Right Thing to Do!

We are the Committee for Better Schools, a local ballot question committee made up of Easthampton residents. We are all volunteers who are committed to educating our community about the need for a new high school building. Please explore this web site to learn why a new Easthampton High School is so important for our community, why the proposed project is the best and most cost effective solution, and why there will never be a better time to act.

Out of 500 proposals submitted, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) has identified our high school as one of the 50 worst facilities in the state. As a result, they have agreed to fund the majority of the cost of building a new high school in Easthampton. This is an exciting opportunity for our city, and one that may not be available to us again for quite some time. If we do not vote to fund our share of this project, it is unlikely that we will have any building project opportunities for years to come .

“The Development and Industrial Commission works to enhance opportunities for economic development in Easthampton and to promote our city as a whole. The growth of Easthampton and the desirability to businesses seeking to locate here are directly linked to the quality of our school system. With a new High School as a flagship, the city may expect an influx of jobs and investment. The school will benefit all local residents.

The Easthampton Development and Industrial Commission (EDIC) supports the construction of the new High School and hopes that you will too.”

Thomas Brown, Chairman of EDIC

“An effective, efficient and highly functional high school building is necessary to provide a sound education to our children. While I am proud to be a graduate from the existing facility, it no longer meets today’s educational requirements. Building a new Easthampton High School facility will meet our current and future needs in the most fiscally-responsible manner.”
