The state (MSBA) is going to pay for the majority of the project cost. (Final numbers will be determined at the end of March.)
This project will provide a safe, environmentally friendly, energy-efficient school that will meet the educational needs of our students.
Our school district is currently losing $1 million dollars + annually because Easthampton families are choosing to have their children educated in other school districts. The “perception” of our schools is negatively impacted by our antiquated buildings. A new high school will help to keep Easthampton students in Easthampton and bring some of that money back to our city.
By preserving our high school’s accreditation, we will protect our property values, and prevent further financial losses due to school choice.
Cities and towns are defined by the reputation of their schools. Area realtors agree that a new high school will maintain and increase the value of Easthampton real estate.
The new high school will serve all members of the community, with public-use spaces available:
- A Gymnasium for hosting sporting events and youth sports groups
- An Auditorium for plays, concerts and other entertainment
- Meeting Spaces and Library facilities for use by various community groups
